Make Money on Half.com
I used to sell Bibles on eBay. One of the hardest thing for me to understand was how to get my listings to show up on Half.com. A few would appear but they were always buried.
I have since stop selling the Bibles but mostly out my own ignorance. Well if you were wondering how to make it on Half, I am not the person to ask. But (there is always a but) there is a woman who has learned how to make $1000 per week on Half after she stopped concentrating on eBay.
So here is her story and her book (get it now while its still at a very low price): Selling on Half.com

Measure the Advice and Go For It
Proverbs 21:17 says, "Those who love pleasure become poor; wine and luxury are not the way to riches." (NLT)
I have been reading Why We Want You to Be Rich: Two Men - One Message
by Robert Kiyosaki and Donald Trump. To listen to them you would think that they read Proverbs regularly.
They both agree that one must work but they disagree with how modern society defines work. For them, work begins with how well a person educates themselves - about finances. They clearly enjoy their jobs and they love to learn.
They say that money is not their love but they love learning about how to make it. I may have to disagree a little there.
The overall picture they give for America's future is almost prophetic considering that they wrote this book in 2006 and much of their predictions about oil have come to pass. In fact much of what they said would happen is happening.
How true does that above Proverb begin to ring in today's economy?
God never tells us not to have things. God never tells us not to be rich. Jesus, however, points out how riches can overwhelm us if they become the center of our life. The rich young ruler went away dejected because he had to give up everything in order to follow Christ.
The Proverb is telling us that possessions, if allowed, can possess us. We begin to think more about them than about God, others, and ourselves. Think about it. How many people are more willing to starve than to give up cable or their cell phone?
A scary statistic is being revealed among college students. More and more of them are applying for food stamps, not because they need the money, but because it helps them live the life they want!
World pleasures mean nothing if we loose our soul in the pursuit of them. God says we cannot serve two masters. This means we cannot let money be our primary life focus. God cares for people and dies for people and invites people. He should be the primary focus of our life.
Besides, doesn't He own everything?
Take a look at the second part of that Proverb - "wine and luxury are not the way to riches."
Riches are never found in what we have but in who we are. Riches reveal character. You may say you do not love money, but your character will tell others differently as you build wealth. Character lets us give freely or see people as God sees them.
So what do you do?
Finally, talk to people who have actually done what you are looking to do. Do not trust those who haven't! Believe it or not, many financial advisers do not follow the advice they give to those who pay their salaries!
And do not be afraid to read books by people like Donald Trump, but Always measure advice you want to use with God's Word.

- Work - Work your plan and plan your work, but also grow your business mind, apply it, and teach it.
- Pray - Time with God will only keep you focused as you begin to see your wealth grow.
- Read - Not just about business but also finance, God, history, and more.
- Give - If you do not have giving as a part of your lifestyle now, then you will find it either very difficult or almost impossible to begin giving when you grow your wealth. If you do not give, you are selfish! Remember what I said about character.

The Olympics
I have been so caught up in watching the Olympics. I love watching people put everything on the line to do their very best. They conquer fears and overcome trials. They inspire me.
I remember when the Olympics were in Atlanta. The German teams stayed in the city nearby. They were like tourists. They constantly hanging around the movie theater. They enjoyed the local restaurants.
I can't imagine how much fun the Olympians must be having in China. My aunt and uncle have been their a few times. I do not know about you, but I would love to go there one day.
So do you have a favorite sport or moment? I have been watching judo online. You can see most of the events live (at night) and you can watch all the different venues or even change mats. If you want to watch go here NBC Olympics and click on one of the Watch Now links.
Okay, enough rambling.

What Purpose Does Your Business Have
Last October, I used an article by the late Larry Burkett, to identify a Christian Business.
What I realize I did not say is that knowing what a Christian Business looks like does not mean you have direction for your business.
As a minister, I can write on this from a pastor's perspective. Any church that does not realize its purpose is just a social club. For business, this translates into a failure to know your product and your customer.
Purpose brings all the focus of the church or business into a single direction and keeps you away from fads. According to Rick Warren, the key principles to any church purpose is to have:
Coca-Cola used to say "Have a Coke and a Smile". This advertising slogan personified their overall purpose. Just look here for their overall mission and purpose statement: Coca-Cola Purpose
Imagine that: Refreshing the World, Inspiring Moments of Optimism, and Creating Value and Making a Difference. Those three elements of their purpose are all actions and are measurable.
To create your purpose statement, you have to ask yourself if that statement can take action (do not state what you are) and can you measure your statement with results. A purpose statement with action and measure will help you maintain direction and refocus your attention.
Start today and try to get a simple and memorable statement to help you deliver with purpose.
Leave comments and let me know what you think.

- Worship
- Fellowship
- Discipleship
- Service
- Outreach is how I reach my customers
- Worship is allowing God to have the lead in my business direction
- Fellowship is found in networking
- Discipleship is found in learning all I can about business and applying Christian principles to what I learn
- Service is giving the best experience I can to my customer and suppliers
Living by Christ's standard, we are revolutionizing not only our lives but also our community at large, through equipping people to serve others, all to glorify God.Business purpose statements should reflect your business plan, your vision, and your faith all in one powerful statement.

Planning For Success
Careful planning puts you ahead in the long run; hurry and scurry puts you further behind.Prov 21:5 (MSG)
Hurry and scurry is a another way of saying "Haste makes waste". Just imagine how much time is wasted due to hurry.
I have a good example. When I was the shipping manager for a steel reinforcement company, our production was slowed down because of the rain. It was a very rainy winter and many of our customers were bogged down and could not receive shipments. Some were putting off projects for months at a time.
My boss really did not see that as an excuse for us to slow down. He pushed for more productivity. Under pressure I began to back some of our customers into corners trying to get them to take the next shipment. I sent four months worth of material to one really nice foreman. I began to find anything and everything I could in order to keep the shop busy.
Our haste and failure to plan caused a backlog. Shipments were short rebar because it was buried under steel. The nice guy who took all the steel from me was short because having too much steel on a job site is like asking someone to steal it - so they did.
We were ahead in our production but slowed down by our over exuberance. We had to re-bend some steel and send out replacements. It cost us a lot of money and time.
Good planning requires thinking beyond just productivity. It means seeing one's overall business and finding ways of avoiding problems.
Failure to plan means you are planning to fail.
The New Living translations says it this way, "Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty."
People are not impressed with mediocre. They want the best possible experience they can get.
Good planning will help you improve business.
- Planning starts with assessment - Observe and gather input from peers and subordinates
- Next comes analyzing your observations - Identify problems
- Develop a plan of action - Predict outcomes of different scenarios and pick the best suited action
- Put your plan into action - Plans are worthless until you act on them
- Evaluate and advance into excellence - Improve in areas that need improvement and maintain the areas that are working well
- Reassess - This should be done at all steps!
The best laid plans are not always the best plans. As a Christian, our primary source for planning begins by laying all our plans at the feet of God. When we do not include Him in the planning process we are setting ourselves up for failure. Always remember:
